03 Nov My Solo Exhibition at Pottery Barn March 2022

Hello everyone.

When I got to know that my art works have been approved to be displayed by the management of the Pottery Barn-Dubai, which is an American upscale home furnishing store chain with retail stores in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Australia with a global standing, I could not contain my joy and pride!

Although super excited for the opportunity, I was anxious over the curating bit of the show as I was on my own & was responsible for the entire show from the beginning till the end. My artworks were approved to be displayed at the Pottery Barn, Dubai Mall as a Solo Art Show from 1 till 15 March 2022.

Now, curating my own show was another learning experience for me! Well at the end, I did a pretty good job, Huh 🙂 !!

Although I had already planned as to how many art works should be displayed and of what size, Still it took me a while to select the art works because I felt this urge to show everything I created. (as most of the artists would have. Laughs..)

But few things to remember;

• While deciding which artworks to display, don’t forget the overall ambiance of the space allocated to you
• Always follow the instructions given from the venue management so one could have a great business relationship with them in the future
• Thank and acknowledge the venue management for giving their platform so generously; first when you get their approvals and then at the opening of the show.
• Your selected art works must follow both the given guidelines and the rest of the basic details in terms of dimensions, color scheme, theme, etc. to match the interior of the space

During the show, I got an amazing response from the artist community, local dignitaries & friends, which is very encouraging for an artist.

I will certainly write a separate blog giving more detailed information on what to consider when given such an opportunity to show the artwork as an artist. And also what is expected of the creatives while they are to sail their own boat (own show)!
